Diane's Ray of Hope Memorial Dinner & Dance

Saturday, February 27th, 2010 The Coast Inn of the North

About Diane: When Diane Louise Boudreau was diagnosed with ALS in January of 2007, she was self

sufficient and working at her bookkeeping practice in Prince George. Nothing could have prepared her for

the changes that followed. From her fully independent life style she found herself very quickly incapacitated

and reliant on costly mechanical devices and the efforts of friends and family to survive. By October 2009,

Diane was faced with moving into a long-term care facility. Due to the devastation ALS imposes on its

victims at this stage of the illness, Diane's wish was to stay at home and battle the illness in familiar

surroundings. In November 2009, Diane's family and friends decided to support her by establishing

Diane's Ray of Hope Trust Fund and organize a Benefit Dinner & Dance and Silent Auction to raise funds

to help make Diane's wish come true.

Diane's Ray of Hope Memorial Dinner & Dance Fundraiser: Although Diane succumbed to ALS and

passed away quite unexpectedly on December 22, 2009, we have decided to follow through with the

fundraiser and instead contribute all proceeds according to Diane’s last wishes. She had requested

that proceeds be shared between the ALS Society of BC (70%) and the New Life Centre (30%) and we

have decided to honour that request on her behalf.

Message from Diane’s Memorial Fundraiser Committee

Thank you to all who helped to make Diane`s Memorial Dinner and Dance a huge success!

On behalf of the Diane’s Ray of Hope Fundraiser Committee and the entire Boudreau Family, I would like to express our sincere appreciation to those of you who helped to organize the event, to those who generously contributed items and money, and to those who attended and participated generously in the fundraising activities of the evening. Thank you so much for your amazing contributions of time, energy and money.

Approximately 230 people attended the fundraiser, and from all reports, it seems that those who attended had a great time. Once all of the contributions have rolled in I know the ALS Society and the New Life Centre will benefit greatly from our/your efforts.

We will allow just a few weeks for the dust to settle (interpreted - pay all costs and get the bookkeeping done) and then present cheques to the two beneficiary Societies. Once the final tallies are in, we will update the website and also send out a press release to announce the details.

At this time, I wish to recognize the tremendous effort on the part of the organizing group and those who worked so hard during the event to make sure everything unfolded in a timely way. I know Diane would be more than pleased.

We’ll be back with our public announcements very soon. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to email or call me at 612-9161.

Warmest regards,

Dan Boudreau, Chair
